Position Statement on Augusto Deoliveira aka "The Dog Daddy" from Pawsome University

position statement Aug 25, 2023

For Immediate Release: 8/25/23

Pawsome University is dedicated to the welfare and well-being of all animals, and we hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards when it comes to pet care and training. In light of recent events and concerns raised within the dog training community, we feel compelled to take a strong stance against practices that compromise the safety and wellbeing of animals.

It has come to our attention that Augusto Deoliveira, also known as "The Dog Daddy," has been widely documented employing so-called dog training methods that involve abuse, pain, choking, hanging, and other fear-based techniques. We wish to make our position clear: Pawsome University unequivocally condemns Augusto Deoliveira and his abusive dog training methods.

We demand that Augusto Deoliveira cease and desist from using abusive training methods immediately. The physical and emotional well-being of animals must be paramount in all training endeavors. Such methods not only cause unnecessary suffering but also undermine the trust and bond between humans and their pets.

Our commitment to science-based, positive reinforcement training methods is unwavering. We align with the guidelines established by reputable professional organizations such as the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) and the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists (ACVB). These guidelines ensure that dogs are treated with respect, dignity, and kindness throughout the training process.

It is imperative for the betterment of animal welfare that individuals like Augusto Deoliveira are held accountable for their actions. We urge the public to be cautious and critical when seeking advice and guidance on dog training, and to prioritize methods that prioritize the well-being of our four-legged friends.

Pawsome University is committed to providing resources, workshops, and information that empower pet owners to make informed and compassionate choices for their dogs. Let us come together to create a world where our pets are treated with the care, love, and respect they deserve.
